Therapy that’s rooted in compassion, curiosity, and self-understanding.

A compassionate, insight-oriented approach focused on reflection, emotional clarity, and lasting change.

Helping adults navigate anxiety, life transitions, identity exploration, relationship patterns, and reconnect with themselves in Houston and throughout Texas.

Meet Maigen

I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor based in Houston, Texas, providing individual therapy for adults navigating anxiety, life transitions, relationship challenges, identity shifts, grief, self-worth struggles, and emotional overwhelm, as well as premarital counseling for couples seeking more intentional preparation for marriage.

My approach to therapy is warm, collaborative, and grounded in helping people reconnect with themselves with more honesty and compassion.

I know that many people come to therapy carrying shame, self-doubt, uncertainty, or the feeling that something about them is “too much” or somehow not enough. Often, they’ve spent years trying to push through, hold everything together, or make sense of their experiences on their own.

Therapy can be a space where you no longer have to do that alone.

Why “Kintsugi”?

My work is deeply inspired by the philosophy of kintsugi — the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with gold.

Rather than hiding the cracks, kintsugi honors them as part of the story; that philosophy shapes the way I approach therapy.

I do not believe people are broken or need to be “fixed.” I believe healing comes from developing a more compassionate and honest relationship with yourself, including the parts of your story you may have learned to hide, judge, or disconnect from over time.

Together, we create space to better understand your experiences, recognize patterns more clearly, and move forward in a way that feels more aligned and sustainable.

My work is insight-oriented and tailored to each individual client rather than relying on a one-size-fits-all approach, drawing from approaches including:

  • IFS

  • ACT

  • CBT

  • DBT

  • EMDR

  • attachment-based therapy

  • compassion-focused therapy

  • narrative therapy

  • Gottman-informed approaches

My approach to therapy

While modalities can be helpful tools, I believe the therapeutic relationship itself matters most. My goal is to create a space where you feel supported, understood, and able to explore your experiences without judgment or pressure to perform healing perfectly.

I may be a good fit for you if you’re someone who:

  • wants a deeper understanding, not just surface-level coping tools

  • feels emotionally overwhelmed, disconnected, or stuck in repeating patterns

  • is open to self-reflection and insight-oriented work

  • wants therapy that feels collaborative, grounded, and compassionate

  • is navigating a life transition, identity shift, relationship challenge, or period of uncertainty

Many of my clients are high-functioning on the outside while quietly struggling internally and carrying pressure, shame, anxiety, or emotional exhaustion that others may not fully see.

My hope is that therapy becomes a space where you feel more connected to yourself, not less.

In addition to my clinical training, my work is also shaped by lived experience, personal growth, and my own understanding of what it means to move through change, uncertainty, and rebuilding.

Because of that, I approach therapy with both compassion and honesty. I know how vulnerable it can feel to slow down, look inward, and begin untangling patterns that may have existed for years.

Healing doesn’t happen by erasing parts of yourself. It happens by learning how to hold them differently.

If you’re looking for therapy in Houston or virtual therapy throughout Texas, I’d be honored to connect with you and see whether working together feels like the right fit.
